The Bible is God’s inspired story of love, restoration, and kingdom living.

The Bible is more than just one book. It’s a collection of writings composed over hundreds of years by dozens of authors who were prophets, poets, kings, scribes, apostles, and eyewitnesses. They were all guided by the Holy Spirit. The Old Testament includes the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings, sacred to the Jewish people and affirmed by Jesus. The New Testament contains the Gospels, Acts, Letters, and Revelation, all written by the early followers of Jesus. These books were carefully preserved, copied, and shared in the early churches across the ancient world. Over time, Christian communities discerned which writings truly carried the Spirit’s voice and aligned with the message of Jesus. By the fourth century, the core of the Bible as we know it was widely accepted as Holy Scripture.

What’s even more amazing is that this collection tells one consistent story, which is evidence of its divine inspiration. It’s the story of God creating us for good, our choice to turn away from Him toward sin, His relentless pursuit of our return to Him, and His plan to restore all things. It’s a story of love, redemption, justice, and hope for the world.

While the Bible was written for us, it wasn’t originally written to us. Each book spoke to people in a particular time, place, and culture. Good interpretation of it begins by asking what a passage meant to its original audience. This is called exegesis. Only then can we learn to faithfully apply it today. When we approach the Bible with humility, care, and curiosity, we discover timeless truth and deep encouragement. Through it, the voice of God calls us closer to Himself.

The Bible is not only history and literature. It’s the living Word of God. Through which God reveals His heart, His truth, and His vision for us in Jesus. Every word invites us into a deeper relationship with the One who inspired it and offers strength and encouragement when life feels overwhelming. When life brings pain and struggles, the Bible anchors us in the presence of God and reminds us of His promises. When you’re feeling down, His Word can lift you up.

This section will help you discover how the Bible was formed, how to read it wisely, and how its living words can guide, strengthen, and transform your life.

Growing Closer to God

These spiritual practices will help you keep your relationship with God alive and healthy. Try one or more of the following each day:

  • Set aside 10 minutes to read a passage slowly and prayerfully.
  • Ask, “What is God revealing about Himself here?” and “How does this apply to my life?”
  • Choose a verse to memorize and return to it throughout the day.
  • Try a spiritual practice called Lectio Divina. Read this passage three times slowly and out loud, each time pondering prayerfully what it is saying and how God might be speaking to you through it.

Psalm 119:105-106 (Voice)
Your word is a lamp for my steps; it lights the path before me. I have taken an oath and confirmed it: I pledge to do what You say is right and just.
